Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus is a sublime horror novel tackling the dangers associated with science. It is quite different to popular portrayal of Frankensteins monster; he was originally a benevolent being whose early aspiration was to seek the love of men. Shelley writes the novel extremely literately, capturing not only the tortured psyche of the creator Frankenstein, but the miserable story of the monster. The novel established - if not created - the benchmark in horror writing, and is certainly on par (if not better) than Stokers Dracula. Highly recommended!
