This book analyzes Catalonian national myths as they were told by Catalonian writers as well as certain foreign writers during the 19th Century. In order to determine the characteristics of each myth, a body of literature written in Catalan or Spanish by 19th Century Catalonian writers has been established. To this, the non-Catalonian writers that have covered our own historic myths in different series publications during the 19th Century have been added. The book takes care not to ignore the contributions made from diverse disciplines such as history, geography, anthropology and musicology, etc. At a time in which the debate over identities is more alive than ever, studies such as this one by Magí Sunyer are more necessary and useful than ever.
